You don't need to be explicitly told that it's your fault to come to that conclusion. If something is preventable, and you fail to prevent it, you can easily conclude that it was your fault (by way of not adequately preventing).

Ok, let's say it is a hoax. So what? We know with *absolute certainty* that this shit happens anyway, hoax or not. At least this 'hoax' is shedding light on a real and serious issue. So if it's a hoax, it's the best hoax ever.
I actually feel safer with my purse in my locked car than I do leaving it at home when I am not there (largely because at the moment, I have a room mate, and I live in a less than perfectly secure location), but ESPECIALLY if my locked car is within my vision.
