As an RN, I would hope that you would see this person not as an 'asshole' but as a person with a severe addiction who needs help. Someone who has a dangerous medical condition that, instead of being hated on/shamed/punished, should be properly treated in the medical system.

Why isn't there a 'common sense' law? In the event that current laws do not address a particular issue, the issue goes to a tribunal of judges who use their common sense and are allowed to make judgement based on any law closest to the crime.

I fly with Westjet frequently and they are by far the best airline I have ever flown with. Their company is very well-run, and the employees are pretty happy. If they sing, it's a rare thing and they do it on their own accord.

I do this with clothes. If I bought a shirt, it must be replacing an old one, etc. It keeps things under control.

How about this?

Yea, I should go back in time to my 16 year old self and tell her that making up a story on the internet, for whatever reason, will come back to bite me now (12 years later). Sounds reasonable. And at 16, I should have *obviously* know better than to make up a story for funsies, because naturally, in 12 years,

I am just saying that what a person does or says online should not be used as evidence against them (outside of something specific).

I still disagree. If you look at the comments I've made over the last 15 years I've been on the internet, you could probably find things where I made up complete bullshit. Pretending to be someone you aren't, or telling stories that aren't true to experiment with reactions, hear people's thoughts, get a different

Honestly, if you tracked all the things I said across the internet, you would probably think a lot of what I have said is questionable too. Yes, sometimes you edit stories to make them sound good, or to 'get to the point', and sometimes your mood dictates how you feel about your past and can result in modifications

THIS.

Don't assume I didn't handle the case properly or don't understand the criminal justice system. My scenario is identical to your initial example, which you yourself wrote was thrown out due to a lack of evidence and 'Bob' would never go to jail.

Bullshit.

Am I the only one who feels like he might be trying to tell his wife something?

This... was an awesome comment :)

There is a litany of other things they could do to help mitigate the problem. Give her a cell phone, put her in a hotel, assign her a victim counselor and/or a guardian, give her an allowance for the duration of the trial so she can make ends meet... etc. etc. etc. The fact that they resort to fucking jailing her is

Do you think regular, normal people call 911 for undercooked waffles? I think my assumption is more than fair.

I don't know about you, but I don't carry a phone book around with me, and I don't have a smart phone... which means I don't have access to the internet anywhere I go. This isn't necessarily a viable option, AND it makes the assumption that she knew or understood that there was an alternative option to begin with.

I 'previewed' the new Kinja, and it's a complete nightmare. Why do they so desperately want to re-invent the wheel? Things are working relatively ok (I don't like it as much as I liked older versions), but this new version is completely ridiculous and useless (just like other 'new' versions that got chucked... for

This kind of stuff really, *really* irks me. Men are raised to think that women are there to serve them, and a wife is essentially a replacement for mom, but bonus, you also get to have sex with her. It's fucking annoying.

I see that you and everyone else here are bending over backwards to NOT make an effort to understand someone's motivation to do something like this.
