Last I heard, there are a few of these bills working their way through the NC legislature, but I doubt they’ll make it very far, thankfully. While the country was already short on gnomes before, the Suez Canal mishap made it even worse. Distributors cite the Canal mess up for their inability to acquire more supplies and gnomes.
