That is actually kind of nuts. I mean I understand the impulse to try to find the good in a bad part of your life, but “I’m grateful that...I abused some women and through that I learned to love myself” is the kind of thing I’d keep to myself.

It absolutely deserved a better reception than it got.
I think it’s epicly underappreciated film. Fun, stylish and really well acted. Few films in this series would be really something.
Yeah, probably.
Kudos to the $500/hour celebrity therapist who managed to convince Armie Hammer that his problem was he didn't love himself enough.
First off, he comes from a rich family. Even after losing his precious acting career, he’ll be fine.
Second, he’s doing that bullshit thing of looking at an event like this as some chance for self-actualization. He was accused of assault and abuse. I’m all for growth, but fuck you, dude.
Yeah, rehabilitation is bad! Once people admit to doing bad things, they should never do anything again! They should just become online accountants, and never leave their homes, ever!
What a stupid statement. Sure, like maybe a handful of extremely gullible weirdos thought he was genuinely a cannibal. But most of us knew what was stated and obvious, which is that he had cannibal fantasies that were just part of an overall trend of wildly inappropriate kink gone wrong. He’s a fucking nepo baby…
... and to kick it all off with a banger like Radio Free Europe that to this day is one of their very best, top tier songs is incredible. I think I remember reading once that the next two albums were so good is because they had so many stashed before recording Murmur. Talk about a bounty of riches for any producer!
Weird how people think “that’s just (blank) being (blank)“ somehow makes their behavior less bad. The fact that this is normal for them makes it better, not worse? Reminds me of this line from Taxi: “You have to forgive Louie, he’s himself today.”
I’ve been listening to their first three (full-length) albums lately and they really hold up; especially Murmur. I’m friendly with Don Dixon, a producer on the first two. What a lovely gentleman he is. His wife, recording artist, Marti Jones is also delightful. Just fully-realized humans; very present.
He’s already 10 years older than Bourdain was when he died.
“When we go somewhere we’ve never been before...”
The difference between the two is that Shatner did a bunch of very popular things, and normal people are familiar with his work. He’s a big personality, but his work (mostly Star Trek) is arguably bigger than him. I think most people are more aware of the Herzog persona than they are of his actual movies.
It really is kind of amazing how Seinfeld thinks that PC wokeness has killed television comedy when Veep and Curb, shows featuring his former collaborators, both had some of the most non-PC, un-woke content and just recently left the air each after long, critically acclaimed and commercially successful runs. What the…
I’ve watched that episode more times than I can count since it was first on, and all I thought was that it was a weird shirt that looked like a pirate, not anything gay-related. Maybe that’s just your take on it.
Also, the couple in “Let It Snow” must be on dangerous hallucinogenic drugs that make them think snowmen are members of the clergy and have the power to conduct marriages.
Christ, isn’t a little early for the “Baby It’s Cold Outside” clickbait discourse machine to fire up again? Didn’t we settle this years ago, or has the COVID brain fog destroyed that part of our collective memory?
Herzog could cover the shit out of ‘Rocketman’.
Let us know when she’s interested in getting vaccinated.
