I promise you, this car will run circles around a base 911 and maybe even a Carrera S with 400 HP.

Seen this many times over the past year. Believe it or not, it makes over 700 HP (apparently way more than that). This guy has owned an NSX as well, long before they were even considered classics and could be had for low 20's.

The Metro. . . 53 city MPG/58 hwy MPG. . . . in 1992!!!

Sweeeeeet jesus. At that price, its justifiable to buy it and have it as a driveway ornament.

There's a legitimate fix for the IMS issue. The S54 in the M3 is prone to valve problems, there was a huge recall. Rod bearing and cracked subframes are a whole other issue. We've had 3 E46 M3's in our household over the past 6 years, they're excellent cars. . . .when well maintained. In our case, we've been lucky

2002 E60 530i, it needs very little TLC, it looks well maintained. I reckon you can get a polyurethane E39 M5 M technik bumper and a set of wheels and stay within the $6000 budget and it'll look bad ass. This one has to be a top pick, Because: manual aka the man pedal.

The car in the photo above for the article is an EXCELLENT option. We've had no less than 5 Maxima's in our household throughout the years and they've all been super reliable. None of them were bought new. In fact the third one I had was a 99 4th gen GLE purchased for $4500 in 2002 with a salvage title that was

I've had several Supras, one of them was an MKIII. It was a Turbo model with a 60-1 Turbonetics turbo and built motor. It was a whale and didn't handle exceptional, it was acceptable. What it did do however was haul serious ass. I remember destroying E46 M3's and 996 C4S on the freeway on many occasions.

Email sent :)

Next weekend: time and place. Im there!

Oh and can I buy you a drink (like seriously), just so I can hang out with you and shake the hand of the man that is at this point an idol of mine. I love your articles.

1JZ-Macho-Madness!!

People said the 1M was for the guy that couldn't afford the M3. Low and behold, look at what happened.

Doug, if you'd like to get on your hands on one and do a mini feature before you get yours here, let me know. I sold mine (an extremely clean example) to a buddy of mine here in NYC. When I sold it, it had BBS mesh wheels, HKS Hipermax 32 way adjustable suspension, HKS intake, HKS downpipes and HKS Hi-Power exhaust

At $150K you can buy a 911 TT or a GT3 :)

I hope I didn't offend you. The R400 while capable (and fast undoubtedly) will not be better sports car than the M2. I've had Volkswagen's and several M cars. After owning both, I can tell you VW build quality can't hold a candle to BMW. The M2 will "supposedly" have 372 HP, if the current generation of BMW cars

If these things hit 40's to 50's they'll be perfect Jalop-edition cars :) The M156 is a gem as well.

I reckon they're nearing, albeit a steep one, the bottom of their depreciation curve. I don't think we'll ever see SLS's for $40-50K. It is after all the true successor to the 300 SL gullwing. That alone will keep values up.

Please find me a fully loaded 2010 M3 for $29,000 and I may consider taking a photo of me kissing your feet :)

I sincerely mean this in the nicest possible way: "That is quite possibly the stupidest decision you'd ever make."
