Competitive cheerleading is kind of cuckoo bananas. They always have the high, teased ponytails with GIGANTIC bows. I’m not saying it’s ok to kick a girl off the team for her hair...but there definitely is a uniform “look” that’s expected with hair and makeup. It’s not a surprise.

But if you change that to “I think about how lucky I am that I like the way I look”, it's a pretty great message. Sounds like you've got a kid who confides in you and knows what your values are and that's pretty awesome.

Being pretty is a super beneficial gift that your daughter was blessed to be born with. Of course other things are important too but your daughter is lucky to be pretty and should be able to be happy about that.
