In England, with RP, the vowel of 'gun' is pronounced like the vowel sound in 'up'.

That explains all the mechanical failures he was getting last season.
I saw these and have been pretty keen on getting a set. Really beautiful
haha I studied English and work as an editor, so I read and write the word very often. My view is that we have tens of thousands of words at our command, we may as well use them, at least within the limits of comprehension.
'One' rhymes with 'con' and 'won' whilst 'gun' rhymes with 'fun' and 'sun'.

As Thematt22 points out, it's about accent. I pronounce 'one' as I do 'won' and 'gun' as I do 'fun'
Does 'one' rhyme with 'gun'?
