I’m a millenial. I’m a salary employee, but I am only required to work 8 hours a day. If I take a 15 minute lunch break by packing lunch and eating at my desk, my entire work day is 8 hours and 15 minutes long.

You can tell a good study from a bad or prejudiced one in a number of ways. If you aren’t able to do that, a better place to start might be taking a class in data science.

Unless you plan to (and have the expertise required to) perform a scientific study of your own, you don’t need to crunch data. The data is there already. All you have to do is find it and attempt to learn from it.
