Little things matter. I always hated that they didn’t bother to have the Harry Potter actor wear green contacts. It’s such a simple thing, but his eyes were always an important part of his character in the books. Completely ignoring such things in movies seems really silly.

This is only true if the runner would be considered down by contact when the ground caused the fumble. If an untouched player falls and fumbles the ball that ball is fair game, even if the ground is what caused the fumble.
The ground can, in fact, cause a fumble if the player was not touched while falling, thus making him down by contact.
