I do hope they offer some kind of incentives. If if they could offer something to get the Golf R under MSRP coupled with a decent financing offer (and actually find one to sell me) it would do a lot to keep me a VAG customer.

Good tip! Unfortunately Instacart isn’t in our area yet.
I signed up for Blue Apron last week, which I think counts. For the $300 or so we spend eating out (usually 2-3 times per week), Blue apron is not that much cheaper but hopefully my wife and I will be inspired to try new recipes to keep us on the healthier side of the spectrum.
Well, there most likely will be now that the issue has become so public.
I mean, what can they really do? Offer a Tesla certification course? It’s an opt-in feature with a read me in plain english describing the limitations onscreen as you enable it. I’m sure there is more education when the owner takes delivery, as well.
True, some people might assume this but I don’t think anyone operating a plane would try to sue Boeing for an incident where they weren’t paying attention. Tesla’s legal disclaimers to the operator are sufficiently clearly stated that anyone driving one should know exactly what the system can and can’t do.
Tesla calls it an ‘autopilot’
If VW’s best talent hasn’t been working full-time on a fix since last fall, they’re even stupider than I thought.
If I’m not mistaken, don’t most gas stations make all their profit inside the store and not at the pumps? If so this is a good business move for them.
Why not have a poll on this article?
I’ve been in touch with the local dealer about Golf R’s - they want $1500 on top of MSRP and aren’t sure if they will get any actual cars anytime soon. Shame, it’s really the only interesting car left in their lineup at this point.
Take the money and run (to a Golf R)
As far as I understand it, that’s the case. But we’ll likely have to wait until the settlement gets going to see for sure.
If you owned it when the scandal broke you are in.
That makes two of us!
My argument, however, was that BG’s original argument held true (direct replacement) for a reasonable set of constraints.
Here’s my example: 2013 Jetta w/sunroof and DSG and assuming 60k miles in October:
Technology marches on. Diesel or not, there will be better alternatives. Sure, the complete package can’t really be found today, but this isn’t a unicorn. It’s just a fairly efficient, low-priced car.
Saying there will never be a comparable replacement for these cars is a little dramatic, don’t you think?
That’s an excellent point. TDI owners should be driving around like grandma until the settlement comes through.
