MPG is such a backwards measurement as it is; we are quantifying fuel consumption per unit distance (what we really want to know) with a unit showing distance per unit of fuel. The standard measurement of L/100km is a much better measure and we should use that. That way, differences could be quantified logically.

That poor guy in the white Corolla is going to think of this every time he wants Panera now.

Everyone should just use LEDs from now on. The technology is sufficiently mature to replace (and outperform) all the old tech today, including HID.

And I can’t even get the local dealer to re-lamp my Jetta correctly. They literally installed the headlamp crooked (you can see it inside the housing), then basically called me a liar when I said the beam pattern is all wrong.

Yes, the classic 900s were a different transmission. The engine was mounted longitudinally with the transmission being chain driven from the front, and all the belts conveniently located at the firewall where there is approximately 2 inches of space to get to them...

The (manual) transmissions are notorious for being made of glass, too... I owned 3 c900's over the years and they all had some form of transmission woes.

You see, if you drove a Tesla you wouldn’t have any gears...

If you’re going to dim them a lot, its good to try them out in your home before buying in bulk (although these also would work just fine in a non-dimmed application). I found only a few bulbs so far that dim acceptably for my own purposes.

It would be better if it auto-subbed words rather than simply rejecting them.

They thought my mom might have chronic Lyme at one point, until she finally got a CT scan and they found melanoma all over her body. She died within 12 months.

Dealers will take the cars - it’s just the offers you’ll get are kind of like them spitting in your face.

Vehicle Titles, registration, tags - Not sure how well this will all work based on the different laws in different states.

DIA has 4 north-south runways and so anytime the wind is out of the east or west (like when we get upslope storms) and they want to keep the main runways open you’ll be seeing a lot of crosswind landings. Pilots are well-trained to handle these conditions so it’s generally a safe condition.

Wind shear is actually a different (more scary) phenomenon than crosswind where wind speed and direction changes suddenly on approach, sometimes causing planes to lose airspeed and stall.

I just made a simple spreadsheet to track my running costs on all my cars. IRS rate is 54 cents per mile - Currently, my dieselgate Jetta TDI is well under that at 31 cents. My wife’s ST is well over it at around 65 cents a mile, but we financed all the maintenance through 100k miles so that value will only go down as

What is the statute of limitations on this kind of thing?

I was sitting at about $18k on KBB pre-scandal for my ‘13, it’s more like $12k now. However in those 6 months I did put 15k more miles on the car.

Even the cheap-o Wusthof knives with the plastic handles are very good knives.

Charging stations will be like parking meters in cities eventually. They are already at commodity-level pricing especially if you buy in bulk. The infrastructure will be a little harder, but demand response technology and renewables like solar and wind can be put to good use on this type of thing. If you had enough

I asked my wife yesterday if there’s anything about the old Jetta she missed from the new car, and all she said was “the old car heated up quicker” but other than that, everything is better.
