Fun fact: On the 2011+ Jetta, one of the wipers does not fold up in this manner. It really makes for a fun time scraping ice off the windshield.

And even after the whole thing was exposed, they had to re-learn essentially the same lesson 2 decades later when Columbia came down.

Last year I attended a talk with Allen McDonald, who was the former director of the SRB program at the time of the Challenger disaster. Everyone already knows about the problem with the O-Rings, the concerns Thiokol had pre-launch and the way NASA railroaded them into proceeding, but it was quite interesting to hear

After robo-cars are mainstream, I could see a left-leaning government launching a “Cash for clunkers” style program to incentivize getting older non-robo cars off the roads, much to the dismay of enthusiasts everywhere.

I can’t play this with sound at work but I can still hear the song in my head.

But on the bottom of the PowerPotion you’ll find a microUSB port for charging devices other than an iPhone or iPad, as well as a full-sized USB port for topping off its own battery.

I owned 3 classic 900s over the years - an 8-valve turbo from the early 80s was my favorite of the 3. So much fun on the road, and not a bad car at all to wrench on, either, once you understand their train of thought.

I’m waiting until at least next year (the wife’s Focus ST is only 3 years old, still feels brand new and I can’t bring myself to trade a car with so much left to give), but every time I read something about this car it makes me want it more. I hope they are more available and maybe not going for over MSRP when we are

It varies more from store to store by region than between chains, in my experience. All the stations in a town will be within a few cents of each other, and could be 20-30 cents different just a few towns over. Also, if you’re road tripping, venture a few miles off highway and you can often find much cheaper gas than

I’ve done the 2k trip from CO to MA a few times, and I always break it into 3 driving days so I’m pretty much only driving during the day. It makes the trip somewhat enjoyable, and if I wanted to get there as fast as possible I’d just fly.

One guy in my neighborhood went with a 4-foot plow on the front of his quad. It’s a cute little thing, but every time I see him plowing with it, it looks like he’s having a blast.

This just looks suuuper sketchy.

I was always a staunch supporter of having two sets of tires (I do for my wife’s ST, actually) but I went with all seasons for my Jetta and you know what, they are pretty damn adequate all year around. After a couple years of treadwear probably not so much, but at present I can plow through a foot of snow on flat

My wife is a year or two from having a paid off FoST. Based on her reaction to the video above, I see a visit to the Ford dealer in our future.

It’s too bad CB radios never caught on in the passenger car segment.

Alright, ok. Make it opt-in, then. Still, if autonomous cars can communicate universally, why not human-driven cars, too?

What if all automakers implemented a universal communication protocol that only worked with cars in your vicinity? Sort of like teamspeak but you can only hear the people around you. Then, you can both yell at people and get yelled at. Make it impossible to turn it off. Boom, no more anonymity.

Just clean the whole car off.

Heck, New Horizons got some pretty great images of Jupiter on its way out to Pluto... I can’t wait to see what Juno will send back.

Of course, even if you don’t win, your money isn’t just going into a black hole:
