DLP TVs do look quite nice, actually. I guess OP is remembering the "old-school" rear-projection screens that were basically a CRT behind a fresnel lens. Those were pretty crappy.

When OSX first came out, everyone was already accustomed to the Windows taskbar and I think the dock was a response to that in typical Apple fashion (see notification center, and all the other features that were already out there prior to Apple "pioneering" them).

You can make electric motors as big as you want, and they are comparable in size to equivalent combustion engines. A 600HP electric motor is about the same size as a small-block V8. Usually a lot heavier, though.

I'd add that you should try to find the car you want as a rental so you can really live with it, but that does narrow the selection a bit.
