Saying Source is getting old is like saying that Unreal Engine is getting old. Surprisingly, people update game engines with modern tech and techniques all the time.

I thought the $350 price point for the developer kits was fairly reasonable, would have picked up one at that price too. However I’m not touching $600. I could get 2 consoles for that price.

Arizonans everywhere can at least be proud that they built a few cities on top of their dust pile of a state.

Here, let me print out 10,000 discs. I’ll need to pay people to go out and gather the raw materials and turn them into discs. Then I’ll need to pay people to operate and maintain the machines printing the discs. Then I’ll need to ship them out and have them spending physical space on a shelf until someone purchases it.

If I sell a game, and my publisher prints out 400k copies of the game, then that’s potentially 400k second-hand copies floating around.

A model of PS3 actually had software PS2 emulation after they discontinued the version with full hardware support, but it had a significantly smaller list of compatible games.

My local Goodwill in AZ had half-off Saturdays. Used it to buy plenty of old tapes. I still have at least 3 sets of the original releases, as well as 2 sets of the gold box release, and 2 sets of the silver box release. In total, cost me ~$10 for all 7 sets.

I’d just like to point out that this is nowhere near as bad as the FNAF fandom. I like Undertale, and I like some of the fandom. However there are definitely worse. At least Undertale isn’t getting 3 sequels over 2 years, a movie, and a book.

This is the same guy who couldn’t manage to tell a complete story across 4 video games, and then critisized the public for not figuring it out.

If your reaction to a giant work that spits acid and electrocutes its prey is anything less than “Fuck yeah that’s awesome!”, you haven’t played enough games.

I really love what folklore people have come out with. That worm looks awesome!

I’d imagine that several hundred VR setups, a couple of 360 camera, and a computer to process it all would save a good chunk of weight over a freaking elevator and special plexiglass dome.

Well I *was* going to buy it, but I think I’ll hold off until I know just how big of a hole they plan to burn into my wallet. I can drop $60 for a remake, but I’m not sure if I can justify $120-180+ unless they *really* expand on the lore and story.

That’s disturbing as fuck.

Input lag kills me more than any network lag can. There’s just nothing worse than trying to jump up to my platform on HM Oryx, only for me to let go of my thumbstick and watch as my guardian continues to run forward right off. Happened in the 5th bomb phase last time I attempted HM Oryx, haven’t put any time in

From what I’ve been seeing since its release, I’m 90% certain the stuff from the book cannot be otherwise obtained.

Ah the wonders of occlusion culling. Typically this is done by rendering the scene to a texture at a very small size (192x168 for example) very cheaply, and then getting rid of any objects not “visible”. Problem is that the small texture size means that stuff can be marked not visible when they’re being seen through a

Still a whole lot cheaper to get raw materials on slave labor.

Bump keys are more widely used than you’d think for simple locks. For a to-be-robber, it pays off to get a set.

CS:GO (along with many other games, like Destiny) uses Hitscan to model the bullet, and then typically visual effects are lined up with that.
