"Don't fix it if it aint broken"... true; but really, you can't make the traditional cranks & chain/belt & cassettes drivetrain any better. This design is almost perfectly efficient, make the components lighter/stronger like Shimano, SRAM, and Campy have done over the years, but don't try to make an entire new system.
