Yes. And cobalt is rapidly being removed from Li-ion batteries. The negative footprint of BEV production is decreasing quickly.

This. The first post sounded like oil-industry written talking point bingo.

“Infastructure”

This “Powell” character - whom I know nothing of his qualifications for making such statements - sounds a lot like your typical uninformed moron spouting rubbish at best, (secretly) pro-fossil/anti-EV FUDster at worst. He presents no actual sources or figures, just a general statement that EVs are a net loss unless

So...the problem appears to be the ever increasing SUVs and not necessarily electric vehicles.

What I’d like to know about this report is are they counting all of the emissions generated extracting oil, transporting it to a refinery, processing it, and then transporting the finished product to the gas station, which has to use power to pump into an ICE?

yup and not everyone can afford a brand new car.... the quicker it gets driven a bit, sold to the next owner/repeat, the quicker we can get the older junk ICE cars off the roads.

yup this right here... people cry till the cows come home, that the infrastructure isnt ready for EV. but the reality is that if people dont buy in to EV, they will never bother to improve the infrastructure....

not sure on the exact math, but as the doors close on fossil fuels and we transition to renewables that’ll be the end all, be all.... I know my area is mostly charged by wind, or so I hear.

Your making somewhat exaggerated assumptions.

This story features a total breakdown of logic. The implication that EVs have to be driven further to break even on the energy costs of production, but their range isn’t good enough to be driven further, so EV owners won’t be able to achieve this, is nonsense. The daily range of a car has little to do with how far you

It’s like they forgot used cars are a thing. Hopefully people aren’t scrapping their cars after a few years ICE or EV.

What really needs to happen is that energy production needs to get greener. Here some graphs from my bachelor studies comparing some electric cars with some new gas/diesel cars and one already existing used car (BMW E60 which’s  CO2 production costs is rated with 0), and comparing the us energy mix to the austrian one:

To gain the environmental dividend that governments are looking for, users are going to have to keep them longer, drive them further than they may have done with a conventional internal combustion energy vehicle.”

Yep. They just make the statement with no backup. Typical click-bait era news.

I’m going to cast side-eyes at the messenger, CNBC, in the same way that I do MSNBC and ABC.

I am quite curious to see what happens in the next few weeks. I’ve been tracking (mostly local) statistics for... checking the spreadsheet... 432 days.

I wouldn’t, but who knows with Porsche prices. Probably an NP on the grounds that no matter the price on a Porsche, someone will rush to pay it.

every single one of them. but mostly the very simple ladder framed roll up your own windows lock your own doors vinyl seated v6 trucks they have the balls to charge 38k for a crew cab. every single full size truck is overpriced.  second i would say is all german cars and their option prices.

...that was mostly harmless and endlessly entertaining.
