I like the idea of denying gun ownership to people who have been convicted of domestic violence. That weeds out a lot of the problem people without policing thoughts/opinions/beliefs.

Where do we draw the line with “unpopular opinions?” Since gun ownership is considered a “right” could other rights be suppressed for having a negative opinion? Who decides? I am not a gun person but this begs the question: What do we do? Gun ownership will never be outlawed in the USA, that’s clear. How do you regulate a legal activity based on someone’s opinion? That is a slippery slope.
