I needed surgery about 7 years ago. I have a good job and I have good insurance but b/c the surgery wasn't necessary at the time (basically I'd have to wait for things to get a lot worse before insurance would cover most of the costs) I'd have to come out of pocket over 15K. A co-worker from the Dominican Republic

It really is. The lady who became homeless was in her late 70s and paid even less than $600/mo. It makes me angry when politicians here talk about getting rid of rent control and rent stabilization b/c they make it seem like people are paying $250/mo for enormous apts and taking advantage of the poor owners. If a $90

My options so far:
Bug mgmt to check the lobby cameras on the dates that packages have gone missing and confront the thief (I've emailed and called but they don't seem to want to check the cameras or allow me to do it)

I can get smaller stuff sent to work but it has to go through the mail room before I get it which adds a few days to getting stuff. That definitely takes away from the luster of Amazon Prime shipping. I do get expensive stuff delivered to work or an amazon locker, but I can't get groceries delivered here.

It's the worst. The stuff is replaceable but it's the violate feeling that p*sses me off.

At first I thought the missing stuff was some Post Office f*uckery b/c whenever they have to deliver Amazon after 5 on a Saturday or anytime on a Sunday they do weird stuff (like putting a tag up for me to come pick up my stuff at the post office) but once I started losing non-Amazon packages I figured it must be a

The nearest one to me is still 5-6 blocks away which is fine for infrequent smaller more expensive stuff but if I want a book tomorrow, can't I just have my book delivered tomorrow? And it's not just Amazon boxes disappearing, Sephora, stuff from my sister. no bueno :(

I'm glad you asked this question. I'm in a rent-stabilized unit in a smallish bldg in NYC. As people come and go and the rent gradually increases certain units loose their rent-stabilization. My bldg has become gradually younger people who stay for a year or two then move. The bldg owners love this b/c they can

I don't think I've ever truly hated before Prez Nacho. I for sure have never seriously wished harm on someone before. Ugh.

This is absurd. At this point, America is the abused girlfriend and Cheetolini and Co are her abusers. We've all had that ex who would lie directly in your face so blatantly that when you're alone you'd blink twice think, "maybe up really is down and down really is up". That ish is gaslighting and they're gaslighting

My response "Make sure to use Fedex or UPS so I can track it!"

good for her, seriously.

lol, you noticed how I said well-paying twice but added keep my clothes on!

The side hustle is what kept me in NYC when I wanted to go roommate-less. I was a shared part-time nanny to a bunch of English families that paid me well and under the table. Now that I've been here for a while and have grown in my job I'm thinking about buying an apartment. Any suggestions for a part-time,

A - You're right, leaders in 'purple' areas do listen to their constituents because they have to. But b/c of gerrymandering, voter suppression, and/or voter apathy, a good chunk of leaders know they're safe and dismiss protests off hand. The new thing is calling protesters "paid" so that they have an excuse to ignore

I've started getting peripherally involved in local government. I don't know what else to do.

I agree with protest often and in numbers. Bring attention to the cause, then what's the next step? You vote, and for someone like Turtle McConnell nothing will change. He's been a US Senator for nearly longer than I've been alive. He, and others like him, have a complete stranglehold on this country and they will

Outside of countries with a strong social safety net (like Denmark), the poorest American is probably doing miles better than the poorest {insert almost any other country here}. And some of the really poor, rural Americans who continue to get f*cked over by both sides would rather shoot themselves in the face than

I know it sounds apathetic (pathetic even), but there is literally nothing that can be done now. People go on and on about the second amendment and a well armed militia to overthrow a tyrannical govt, blah blah blah but let's be practical. The United States Government is never going to be overthrown by the people.
