I REALLY hope there’s a new trend in Hollywood of A-List actors doing Lifetime movies for fun. My whole life has been leading up to seeing Meryl Streep and Denzel Washington in a remake of Crimes of Passion: She Woke Up Pregnant.

She delivered un- marked hate mail to her sealed PO box, and hung nooses in her own home, in a bid to inflame racial division. I think there’s a story there.

Then why are you still here? Why are you working so hard to tell other people what they don’t need to care about? Much like Dolezal leaving her blackness at the curb with her purse and keys, you can leave at this thread and this story any time you want. You can follow numerous other stories happening all over the

“The idea that Dolezal’s choice to publicly identify as a black woman —- one who occupied positions of power in spaces specifically designated for members of a marginalized group —- is the same as being a trans woman, simply doesn’t add up.

No. No, no, NO. This argument needs to stop.

Why can’t there be a fight for all those issues and also a discussion about this woman? There’s no limit to conversations to be had or issues that will need to be focused on. That should never be a thought.

To you white=priviledge

It’s not minor. If it was, there would not be this uproar and level of discussion going on. Words are being invented/co-opted to explain/excuse this bullshit. She’s being equated with Caitlyn Jenner, as if you can quantify blackness the same way you can identify what is female.

LOLOLOL Okay, girl. You don’t have to be anything you don’t want to be and Blackness is an active identity. But, let’s be clear. Neither Latino nor Hispanic is a race and treating them as such is incorrect. Gina Torres will tell you quite clearly that she is a Black woman. She’s also very Cuban. Those two aren’t

There was a morning show on at the office I was at today discussing Rachel Dolezal. They brought one black woman on and proceeded to talk over her 90% of the time. It was infuriating and embarrassing.

Aww, you’re one of those Latinos, huh? How sad for you. And Blackness does NOT refer to American American-ness, which is why many countries with Black populations have had movements to assert their Blackness loudly and proudly, noting the cultural differences while aiming for solidarity with the rest of the African

1. Black Hispanics are black. Hispanic is not a race, therefore you can be a white or black Hispanic. Do the research on it.

Coming soon — limp ponytail.

Well, that’s part of what is so offensive to her performance of blackness. That she did wear some pretty over the top wigs and braids to sell the part. B/c yes, there are black women with pretty straight hair so she could have just been one of those instead of doing the extra long 90s braids and other nonsense.

BYE!

While challenging the construct of race is at the core of evolving human consciousness

“She used to tell us that teachers treated her differently than other people and a lot of them acted like they didn’t want her there....”

Race is indeed a construct, but that is very, very far from it being a costume.

On the upside, her morning routine just got so much shorter.
