When - in your estimation - were journalists *not* motivated to sell newspapers/ads or hired and influenced by those who were?

Honestly surprised not to find a “commandment” requiring tipping theater employees.

Somewhat ironically one of the worst of the tailings left behind will be the lowering of intelligent discourse to lower levels than we’d seen before.

Credit where it’s due - I thought the satire would end after the headline, perhaps the first paragraph. The whole article is Swiftian in its ridiculousness.

The system shouldn’t punish sacrifice and discipline and shouldn’t reward shirking of responsibility.

Had the same question -- you’d think a “journalist” would have provided the answer instead of fellow commenters....

There is some benefit in having a car at the end of the journey v. winding up in a train station.

I mean, not all of us can aspire the the healthful lifestyle of rock stars what with their strict vitamin and exercise routines, so there’s no way we should expect to live so long!

If you paid 20k *more* in Federal taxes there was more at play than the new tax law.
