Would it have killed them to go with “RIP Lil Bub”?

Yo this headline seems more edgelord-ish than usual.

This headline seems to be a little flippant/callous.... would “Lil Bub, The Famous Internet Cat, Has Died” not gotten enough clicks? Why go with “This cat is dead”?

RIP Lil’Bub. You made more people smile than this crusty middle-aged lady ever will.

It’s the right size for a Xanax, or for a Valium if she’ Old Sckool. So Valley of the Dolls!

I have a problem with Farrow being honored over Twohey and Cantor, but not over Farrow being honored at all. This is exactly how women’s accomplishments tend to get written out of history. The men gets the lion’s share for the acknowledgement, and over time the women who were doing similar work are just forgotten.

It is grotesque that they are referring to her killer as her “ex”. He’s an ex because she isn’t alive anymore, what the actual fuck. Also the kink community is pretty hardcore about safety, and the biggest thing they depend on is trust. This is not kink gone wrong, as he clearly didn’t give a shit about her afterwards

Hello, we are currently down people and yet five of us will be on tonight liveblogging and writing about the debates as ever. One post does not signal a change in editorial strategy! I realize and sympathize that there is a temptation to believe that we are flipping the switch given all the recent fuckery yonder, but

The average person doesn’t have enough money in their bank account to be moderate.

You want short shorts? Watch rugby.

In the 60s/70s, basketball players (and frankly, every boys’ high school gym uniform in America) wore shorts. Nowadays they all wear culottes.

Be careful there, you don’t want to splinter the audience.

Historic times. Hey...G/O Media...you people should totally start a politics blog that could cover all this stuff as it happens. Man, that would be great, ya know?

“I doubt that there wasn’t a single novel beloved by teen girls on that list...”

I’m not sure how familiar you are with Dessen’s work if you’re arguing that Stephanie Perkins is writing more nuanced, deeper stuff than her. I’m not a huge Dessen fan, but she’s tackled a number of heavier issues in her books—domestic violence, sexual assault, eating disorders, teen pregnancy—often with plenty of

Um...I took an young adult lit class IN COLLEGE and learned quite a bit like how writing for young adults has changed through the years and common themes and motifs that are addressed through those novels regardless of when it was published.

the hate being expressed for Sarah and other authors here for calling out a legit problem is so bizarre. no doubt, there is another inane article about Cardi B coming up that everyone can gush over though.

This reminds me of when Nicholas Sparks said he doesn’t write romance novels and that he was actually the natural successor to Hemingway, Shakespeare, and Euripides. (I’m 100% serious about this.)

Look, this is why this shit is a big deal. YA novels aren’t some kind of frivolous bullshit that isn’t worth reading because they aren’t The Great American Novel. If you’re at a university to challenge yourself academically, the Common Read isn’t the only place you can do that, and telling everyone that you joined a
