I understand that for some (most?) people, an engagement ring is not only a physical representation of your love, but also a status symbol meant to convey the kind of bride you fancy yourself to be.

As someone who has personally seen Joe Biden give someone an unwanted massage, yeah it’s fucking weird. But not weird enough to lose his job over.

The definition of due process is not “a careful investigation of the facts.” It’s an open, fair procedure that gives an opportunity to both sides to present their own stories. That’s what was not done here. I wasn’t that bent out of shape about it then, to be honest. I’m not so sure anymore.

Hi, Minnesotan here. Al Franken fucking broke my heart, but why the fuck is this coming up again? Eight women came forward. I have a feeling he resigned before an ethics hearing because there would have been more.

Fuck this article and the suggestion that these were mistakes and not abuses. You don’t make the same

The defense of him in this piece was sooooo paltry. Oh, he’s just awkward. Oh, that’s just his humor. Oh, it’s just an “asshole” “character,” that’s not how he “really” is. It’s just show business! It’s just politics! I’m just a touchy-feely guy! He’s just a hugger!

And that’s it, isn’t it? Excuses excuses excuses.

He was right to step down. I get it, it sucks because before all of this came out, I really liked the guy. But him stepping down was the right thing to do, end of story.

The venn diagram between those who believe Franken was railroaded and shouldn’t have resigned and those who want Biden to get the nomination is a single overlapping circle.

My 4 year old came and hugged me as I watched this. And all I could say to her was that it’d made me sad because I missed him. He was a light of positivity and love that we sorely need right now.

This is exactly what I just told my husband. I know it’s Hanks trying to capture that voice and it’s not seamless, but I couldn’t stop crying.

I think it’s because he made us feel like we were all his friends, and that we were all important. We weren’t watching some rando person on TV entertain us. This was someone who loved and cared for us.

What we really need is like a sociological study on how a certain generation (apparently those of us commenting on this story) feels an intense attachment to Mr. Rogers. It’s different than Sesame Street or Barney or whatever the other shows are kids watched. Blues Clues? The lady with the lamb puppet? But it is a

If there is one person who can be a faithful steward to a childhood favorite, it’s Tom Hanks.

I completely understand your point. But this world can always use, if not outright need, as much Fred Rogers as possible.

Hell, I'm just thrilled I'm not alone. I held it together until watching the Arsenio clip. I had to go to the bathroom until I pulled it together.

Seriously, why am I crying?!

I’m still not sure why someone decided we need this movie in a world where Won’t You Be My Neighbor? exists, but whatever.

For “religion,” sub “the rights of indigenous Hawaiians to determine how their own land is used.” Then, that, whichever result it may be.

“ I’m not seeing Hanks disappear into the role so much as Hanks playing it.” Yes. I still gently sobbed at my desk, though.

It's so much about religion but one's overall connection to their culture and their ancestors.

This sin’t just a religion issue, the native Hawaiians were never even granted a tribal status similar to Native Americans who can claim specific powers and rights within their tribal boundaries, if I am understanding (some friends out that way) correctly. A part of the sugar industry annexing Hawaii traditions.
