I think the first generation of E class is debatable. Some say it goes back at least as far as the fintail (Heckflosse) W111, but I've definitely read references to the W114 (which I own) referred to as the E class of its generation, with the W108 being the S class.

Nope. I've driven the Cayenne Turbo and the E55 AMG (and the E63), and 20" of snow is more than most wide-tired, car-based SUVs will get near. That's not to say it isn't an entertaining ride, though. It's certainly fast, posh and poised for a teutonic grocery-getter.
