@RandomGuyWithaMazda: You know, if you're gonna drive a Miata, you just have to deal with the fact it's got a girly-car rep with the layperson. For those of us that have owned and loved them, it's a small price to pay. Trying to make it look masculine (not to mention silly) just cheapens the affair.
@wkiernan: I do the same. I think the image problems of the car affect the common man (not so much the common woman). I like to say it takes a man to drive a girly car with confidence...doing so in this case pays off handsomely.
@gman1023: I'm a huge fan of 6.3 & 6.9 period Mercedes, but the E12 would easily have had an edge on handling against either of those. Great cars as they were, their performance was largely straight-line.
@Straight6er: That driver is great fun.
The E12 was such a beautiful car. Boy did that fatty let itself go in its 30's!
@Flathead Smith and the Screaming Straight Pipes: Are you suggesting that pot inhibits geometry? If so, that would explain a lot about my early 20's.
LUV.
@snap_understeer_ftw: Always loved those Quantum wagons. Even if they were 100HP, 5-pot gutless wonders.
With the suspension travel A-body Buicks have, it may just do the trick...
Blending fun, safety and reliability:
I'd put money on him only carrying the .357 after he moved back to the states from Paris. I can't tell if he's driving the Ferrari on Parisian streets or stateside in the picture.
@snap_understeer_ftw: I'm a huge Miles fan, but I'd put my money on Herbie Hancock for that one.
@Roberto G.: I remember seeing one of these in a parking lot circa 1980 when I was a young kid. The brazen exposure of the seats in the shallow bed and the "handles" that looked like bent ski poles shocked me even then.
@snap_understeer_ftw: Thank you so much for doing so, though.
Damn, why didn't I think of this when I had a truck?
@LuckyChuck: I hoon Tata Nanos: Serously. I'm no fan of the red light bandits, but buyign technology so you can safely run red lights isn't exactly the same thing as buying a radar detector.
If I posted it on the internets it wouldn't be peaceful anymore.
@Fedaykin528: If it wasn't for the fact that diesel fuel isn't susceptible to the same type of flash explosions that would happen in a collision, that is.
@robl326: Thank you for this frame capture. I intend to plaster it on Venzas and Crosstours everywhere.
