After living in California, Arizona and Virginia for a few of years each, but having grown up in New England around greater Boston, I can say I think this is reasonably accurate when taking account into average cruising speeds.

I think James gets it half right, leaving out that feedback is still only part of the equation. The other half is the car's ability to do what you want it to and what you expect it to, when you want it to, along with just how smoothly it does it.
