There’s a lot of discussion going on in the book world about “Book deserts,” basically places that wouldn’t have a store at all if BN closed. Is that because the BN forced their local stores out of business? Probably. But BN is one of the last big competitors to Amazon and they have a place in the industry.

I’m always intrigued by how streaming services effect these numbers, too. I have Hulu Live, and actually watched some of the broadcast through that because Disney XD is part of the package. Does that count? Does it matter?

There is a Japanese live action series called Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon and it’s actually really, really good. It follows the manga a lot closer than the original anime, and tension between Venus and Mars is really well done.

And if she ever makes it to Japan.. there are cafes and theatre shows all the time
