I said before that I didn’t think Rhys would be able to break the record. But after some of his practice runs and how confident he seemed at the Fan Fast yesterday, I’m pretty sure he’ll get it. IF the weather holds out. And that’s a big if, especially this year.

Ok cool, thanks for telling us all that which we already know (and no one disputed). This is a demonstrator car designed to show off acceleration. Tesla has been the “king” of acceleration for a while and has repeatedly spouted about how it’s better than BMWs. Enter a(nother) 5 series that can do a sub-3 second 0-60.

There are far too many people in dealerships these days who hear about the range and acceleration of a BEV or PHEV and can’t seem to help but vomiting out the whole “well I have a buddy with a Tesla...” bullshit before the salesperson gets to finish the word. Guess what, Teslabuddyguy. No one gives a flying fart about

...can substitute my car’s headlights in a pinch.

It really is. And the 2020 feels identical to the 2017, in my opinion. The thing about this particular V12 (and with many others) is that it’s just so smooth. There’s no surge from the turbos, and the sound is just borderline odd if you’re not familiar with it. Couple that with the (relatively) soft suspension setup

I just like how he’s basically just like “fuck everyone” these days, and people are still choosing to be so bothered by all of it for some reason. It’s entertaining, if nothing else.

Maybe it’s a regional thing. I used to live in the south where proper track cars were all over the place, mostly year-round. Now that I’m more north, it’s more of the fast daily AWD cars that are filling up the tracks. And a bunch of douchey Subaru bros with ebay coilovers and exhaust, of course.

It’s probably a very lazy and boat-like 601 HP...

I’m curious if you actually know anyone who owns a fast SUV/SAV/SAC/blahblahblah. This is 100% already happening. I’ve seen an X5M, X6M and even a Macan or two at the track just this year. People like to drive shit fast. And someone spending this money on a hopped up version of what would normally be just a soccer-taxi

It’s also nearly impossible to make quick adjustments to the map display, with the options to change viewing elevation and cursor direction buried under unclear menu settings, instead of being obvious one-touch options on the driver’s side of the display.

Easily the best internet find of the day.

I’m amazed at how much actual music is on the radio. I’m lucky if I hear an entire song during my commute when I take my non-bluetooth car to work.

Think they’ll have one for the pre-owned tampon look?

Damn... You guys are a little too hardcore for me.

...and the furthest humans have been from Earth, 254,110 miles.

Hey, it’s you. Good luck and be safe up there bud. Hopefully it doesn’t snow/hail (snail?) like last year.

He may even have a crack pipe somewhere in those cubbies.

ARX RallyCross Round 1

Ah yes, I remember these now. They were all over the place when I lived in Florida. Almost exclusively on either a Camaro or Bro truck, seemingly.

Rhys is a badass on this mountain. The Bentley has something like 50% more torque than the 911. And I’ve seen stranger things happen at the PPIHC.
