I’m a firefighter and our new engine automatically applies the brake lights whenever the driver’s foot is off the accelerator because the Jake brake is so aggressive. And our newer rescue flashes its rear red LED strobes anytime the brake is pressed. Very obnoxious, blinding, and confusing to be behind.

On a related note on weird indicator lights, the GMC RTS buses operated by MBTA in Boston all had twin green indicator lights in the front and back (orange in NYC). One accident doesn’t make the rule. As you stated, “dozens” of motorcycles were lane splitting, yet you saw “one” motorcyclist who had presumably died. I’ve seen an SUV rolled over on the side of the road before, does that mean that driving an SUV is inherently unsafe?

We crash and die not lane splitting too, what made you assume that was what caused it. I heard about a train that crashed once too, not valuable info to this discussion but then again neither is what you offered.
