I didn’t laugh at “sperm delivery system” until Lana said “I said that... one time.”

I mean, I do that all the time, too. “You guys” is the term I use probably the second most to informally address a group of people, after “Y’all”, even if the group is all women.

Oh man, the car scene. My roommate wandered in to the living room while I was watching this and I was like “oh, this isn’t *that* kind of scary, you’ll be fine” and not 5 minutes later that happened.

Yeah, I think it’s mostly fine when you’re talking about young women (in a context where you’d use “guy” to describe a man) but it will always seem weird when used on someone older. Basically I use girl for everyone who seems about my age (27) or younger, and lady for older. I wish there was a better female

Also “the girl”. Good lord. I’m definitely guilty of using “girl” to describe adult women. I’m a grad student and it feels weird to talk about people I know as “this woman in my class”. If I’m using it for an adult, I kind of see it as the female equivalent of “guy” rather than “boy”.

Exactly- I can’t remember the context exactly but I was reading about somebody with like 7 total degrees (I think just one PhD, but then a bunch of other terminal degrees) and this info was presented like it was supposed to be impressive but like... why? What’s the point of all those degrees? You can’t possibly be

Name a straight couple in that series that got a happy ending.

Yeah, I kind of took it for granted that older Jamie was recounting a true story with enough details changed that it wouldn’t be immediately obvious to the grown-up kids that it was about them. Maybe Jamie learned about Viola or what happened to Hannah after the fact or maybe she just filled in the blanks as well as

Exactly- I used to lift 3x per week, but haven’t been to the gym since March. I’ve been doing home workouts which are better than nothing but not the same, and I really miss the gym. That said, not going back until there’s a vaccine. It sucks, but it’s literally the least I can do. And also far, far from the hardest

Was kind of wondering why they kept calling her “Princess” though. Yugoslavia hasn’t been a country in a while.

I thought Edmund’s appearances were scarier when you couldn’t see him that clearly. You get a really good look at him the last time he pops up before the flashback and it just kind of made me laugh because he went from some creepy specter to, like, a generic white male MFA student but with glowy eyes.

I mean, neither does lecturing someone for voicing their frustration. Good for you for volunteering (assuming you’re actually doing that and that OP isn’t), but internet comment sections aren’t typically where real change happens.

You make an excellent point if we were dealing with people who were arguing in good faith and had any interest in the actual truth. If this guy is anything like my Trump-loving relatives, he’ll dismiss anything from an actual news outlet as “liberal propaganda”, even if it’s, like, a local ABC affiliate. Shapiro can’t

Fair enough, just that a lot of people I saw discussing it were like “what idiot would stay in the US to have a baby when they could go to Paris?” and, like, I can think of a lot of reasons you wouldn’t want to move an ocean away while pregnant.

Exactly. Could be a coincidence (or, not exactly a coincidence, but Rowling drawing from an archetype and not making a conscious connection) but it’s definitely hard not to see it once it’s pointed out.

I heard Midwestern.

Idk, they sounded fine to me. Even Carla Gugino for the most part, although before the last episode I was wondering why they decided to have an American do the narration in a British accent. Especially since she was pretty rarely onscreen. I did, however, have to rely on subtitles to figure out what Jackson-Cohen was

I thought Manchester too, just because her accent reminded me of Daphne from Frasier. I’m also American, and while I can tell the difference between, like, the Queen and Burt from Mary Poppins, I’m not well-versed on the nuances of English accents either.

I mean, obviously policy-wise France is a better place to have a baby, but I didn’t get all the Twitter people who were incredulous that Kate Walsh would turn down a move overseas because she was pregnant. Like, moving is stressful enough on its own, as is being pregnant. Also a lot of people rely on family and

Sometimes I remember that Snape was supposed to be about 31 in the first book and this just does not mesh with my worldview.
