Yes. Scientists prosper by publishing. Not by keeping their results (good or bad) secret.

Then what’s published in all those journals? What goes onto the posters discussed at professional meetings?
The people who work in “big pharma” get cancer, too. As do their friends & relatives.
The ever-changing cast of showrunners & the clueless writers did have a choice. They could have looked at the surprising success of Season 1 & decided to Not Fuck It Up.
If the writers really wanted Beharie to stay, they could have begun by not slighting her character in season 2. (And that was not the only failing in that dreadful season.)
They could have tried writing a co-lead character well. So as not to drive her off.
The showrunners responsible for the excellent first season left. The showrunner for season 2 almost destroyed the show—and probably began Beharie’s discontent with his crap treatment of her character. (That was not his only sin.)
Did you even see the fiasco of Season 2? Beharie was the co-star in season 2 & was driven off by bad writing & disrespect.
But Katrina was badly written even in Season 1. Quaker, nurse, witch, patriot, what? In an arranged marriage with a rich non-Quaker? That’s not the way the Quakers worked. Then—she was a Mom!
I’ve had Amazon Prime for years—for the free 2-day shipping. The videos (& music) are nice extras. I still prefer Netflix.
As much as I appreciate the Netflix Originals, I’d like to mention that Animaniacs just started streaming....
When you check to see a commenter’s history, you get knocked out of the comment list; takes a few minutes to get back.
Ted Cruz is now chair of the Senate Subcommittee on Space, Science & Competitiveness. Last I heard, he was curious about how bombing could make sand “glow in the dark.” That’s sand on Earth.
I haven’t made it to Mexico City, alas. What you won’t find there is Tex-Mex. Which is excellent when done well; I live in Texas, so we have lots of it here. (It’s been said that Mama Ninfa’s kids got her to start selling fajitas after tasting them in the DF. Now they’ve been added to most “Tex-Mex” menus.)
Yes. Wesley was an insufferable prat who became marginally acceptable before he left Buffy on a stretcher. Then his character grew & went to some rather dark places on Angel.
Case in point: Sleepy Hollow. The first season was smart & surprisingly amusing. Then the original showrunners left & season 2 showed what happened when nobody knew where to drive the thing. Season 3 (with a new showrunner) has had some fairly good episodes.
For the first two seasons, they shot the show in Wilmington, NC. Then the state stopped giving TV production a tax break—many shows had been shot there.
AVclub & PreviouslyTV will keep recapping Sleepy Hollow....
Most of us who actually use our Kindles saw them update themselves already. Yes, some of us still “read.” (And toting a pile of books isn’t easy. I remember leaving a book at home because I might finish it on the way to work—leaving me with NOTHING TO READ on the way home. With a Kindle, no danger. Also—I read lots of…
Nope. My similar Kindle made the last Update automatically. Some dicier WiFi setups do things like not allow me to download a new Kindle book. But everything works fine at home.
