So if you steal a car equipped with one of these, you just yank off the mirror and toss it out the window, and you can't be tracked, right?
Starting when I was probably around the age of 4 or 5, my father would routinely bush hog fields with an 8N Ford tractor setup not unlike the one in this photo (which may not be an 8N, it was just the first image I could find). My older brother and I would ride sitting unrestrained on top of the bush hog, which meant…
@Vavon: As long as somebody saw where I was going there, I'm happy.
@Vavon: I'll try again...if not, you were supposed to see an AMC Concord DL. Maybe the hamsters are on holiday too.
@Vavon: Maybe they were keeping that on the DL.
@Ray Wert: Well actually, according to their site: "Built in 1933 in Greenfield Village. Replica of the original building with some original bricks from 58 Bagley Avenue duplex." I'm guessing if the shop had been in any condition to move intact Henry would have done so; I'm always amazed at the story about the…
@Tossed Pissed Mazda3hatch sideways: I don't know about my kids, but I'd put my wife in a Toyota in a heartbeat!
I still search eBay regularly for one of these, even though I know I'd regret it if I ever actually bought one.
@endɹǝsn: My first new car was an '84 Skyhawk coupe. Mine was the Custom (base) model, so it had no cruise control or power windows; but I got adept at being able to lean the seat back to pop the rear vent windows open, and could lean over and roll down the passenger window, while driving. I mean, we didn't have…
T-tops, a bed for hauling, and "seating" for up to four...what's not to love?
Well, this proves not all Vienna sausages come in a can.
Let's just be happy this dealership wasn't in Tulsa.
@SagarikaLumos: Not an '84 GN versus a '92 SVX (which are what I drove) from what I can find online, either 0-60 or top speed.
At first I was going to say a Buick Grand National, but then I remembered driving a friend's Subaru SVX.
@Buickboy92: Not sure how well this will show up, but this is a shot I took of the interior when I was there, just to give you an idea of how close I got.
Man, I wonder how far it could fling a potato?
@Buickboy92: I got to visit the GM Heritage Center last summer, and was able to walk right up to the Y-Job (among many other awesome cars). I have a vivid memory of the smell of the grease on the roof mechanism that will stay with me forever. I'd smelled old grease before, but I swear every time I've done so since…
I believe that Crown Vic was "Tuscon Bronze"...not that common a color as I recall.
This is why I worry about my 17-year-old choosing a college to attend (and a major). Clearly at this age you're not equipped to make long-term choices.
