Yes purchase from local farmers. Visit the farm, meet the animals. If a farmer is not happy for you to come check out there situation, you shouldn’t be eating that meat.
agreed
Indeed. For those out there that do not want to come to terms with this fact, I recommend a plant based diet.
it is decided by temperature in alaska. +5F is quite warm to us, and we spend most of the winter below that
i’d be a happy happy man if everyone in alaska put winter tires on; but they dont, and end up sliding through stoplights and narrowly avoid killing you
if you eat turkey for thanksgiving you are complicit in this slaughter. You should know what it looks like, what it smells like (awful), you should participate in it. We are too removed from our food.
these are fantastically bad
for some reason the nissan dealer has some girl come on the radio with a terrrrrible texas accent and talk about how tough and manly the titan is. we are in alaska, btw, not texas.
That’s why we run block heaters, oil pan heaters, transmission heaters, and battery trickle chargers. All 3 of my cars have over 150k miles, and are all in good shape
this is the only real take
same up here in alaska. keeps our cars around longer too without all that rust
The key to chores is weed
i aspire to be as crotchety as you
curious as to your background. we exchanged comments on the NPRA article, now you come in here with the taps thermosiphons! taps construction really is one of the engineering marvels of our time, and lead to massive advances in permafrost science. Without climate change, the pipeline would preserve the permafrost…
Another interesting take on food security in native villages on the north slope: the government provided housing that many families now live in are too airtight to allow for appropriate fermentation of their meats, leading to spoilage rather than preservation
Brian, it may seem minor but we really prefer to state that permafrost thaws, like a caribou backstrap you take out of the ice cellar, rather than melts, like snow melts away each spring. The ice within the soil matrix does melt, and turns the whole ‘permafrost unit’ into a thawed out soupy mess
it comes pre-configured with all your codecs and starts off with more programs already installed is mainly what I was thinking of. if you’re already dialed in I wouldn’t change...
MINT is way more user friendly than ubuntu these days
