Frank's sister and her children; I feel that introducing characters (especially children) only to immediately kill them off, is cheap and manipulative; the method only adds another layer of horror on top of that.
is this what they mean when people use the term "fridging"? Introducing a character and then killing them

Really excellent observations!
I was hesitant to watch JJ because I don't want to get emotionally involved with a franchise, but I'm so glad I did!

Now every time you close your eyes, you see NAOMI YELLOW.

I've been watching MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE.
I'd watched the pilot, but then dropped it for JESSICA JONES, now I am circling back.
The 2nd episode was very upsetting for me; I wish there had been some kind of EXTRA warning about a certain set of scenes, though if I had even known those scenes existed, i would have avoided

Episode 2 has some scenes I wish i could UNsee, and almost bailed over it.
I've told friends, "As soon as you see the sister and her kids, just skip to the next episode". That was so brutal, there should have been an extra explicit warning.
The show picked up momentum with Episode 5 and this , Episode 7, is where I am

I missed that, too.

JOE IS DUMB.
The kind of dumb that thinks its smarter than everyone else.
How many people does he think he can lie to?

Show got a LOT more interesting when J & J parted ways.

I have to mention that the shots of J & J walking through the sunny woods were lovely.

One of the things I loved - I hope this is not too spoilery - is that, throughout the season, Jessica's apartment just keeps getting MORE WRECKED, it doesn't get fixed or cleaned up between episodes!

Agree on too much violence/gore.
But I like that Jessica doesn't have formal training.

I felt guilty that I dropped this for JESSICA JONES, but, as of episode 4, JESSICA JONES is a more enjoyable show (and better use of my time).

Worldbuilding is great, but if you can't CARE about any of the characters within the world, whats the value, beyond technique?

I resent this show for putting these images in my head.
It would have to be a BIG story payoff to make enduring such cruelty worth it, and I do not have confidence in these writers.

I may bail after this episode.

This is how I feel, too.

I felt it was cruel and manipulative to The Viewer.
Or maybe it was his non-reaction that made it feel cheap.

This is the point where I decide whether or not to commit to the show.
That I have to think about it points to "no".

I was afraid of that, too!

The sister and kids was too brutal for me.
I don't know if I can continue with this show.
