Yes, I was talking to my boyfriend about that this morning—the main difference between the book and the show so far to me is that we get to see things that Offred doesn't know and can't know. The book is 100% from her point of view except for the epilogue of course.

Bomb

Not so far. Timelines are a little different, I notice, and ofglen's story doesn't happen in the book, but that doesn't bother me.

The way the book is structured, the voice over really is necessary imo.

Except she didn't HAVE to marry him. So I can't quite see her as a victim to that extent.

I can never hate AHS because even when it sucks at least it's not predictable, but last season was great. Wrt Feud, I have not cried this much for a TV show since the last episode of Asylum.

Who cried? I did. Through most of the last half hour. The scene with Hedda and Jack Warner at the table was satisfying and a plausible fantasy IMO.

wow, yeah. i went out to lunch with my boyfriend and one of his AA friends today, and felt decadent for having two beers. Don't get me wrong, I am GRATEFUL that the boyfriend is sober now—but it's gotten hard to either overindulge myself or watch others do so just because.

Where was Olivia DeHaviland born? Thought she doesn't live here anymore…

I grew up in Worthington, Ohio (a suburb of Columbus), not far from a long-lived and well-loved pizza place called Pizza House. Thus I have never been able to warm up to pizza cut like a pie. The small, crisp squares and varying sizes of a round pizza cut into squares is what I crave. I lived in Chicago for 14

I had a super crappy weekend, and then the Strait Jacket trailer and John Waters showed up. Thank you, everyone.

Yeah, I was looking around for more pictures of old hollywood types with their dogs at restaurants and such, but I've found mostly posed photos. Having watched a lot of old movies, though, it seems like purse dog has always been shorthand for "rich lady of leisure." Now that I think of it, if you've ever read "17" by

That's what I always thought too. I remember what a big deal it was when Silence of the Lambs got so many nominations, and then when Kathy Bates won for Misery.

IF this link works—here's a pic of Gypsy Rose Lee at a club or somesuch with one of her Chinese Cresteds:

She was wonderful, as was Patty Duke, and the movie itself is truly Oscar-bait IMO. That said, I've never felt the need to re-watch The Miracle Worker, whereas Whatever Happened to Baby Jane I will gladly watch over and over.

You could say it goes back to the "sleeve dogs" of ancient China. Aristocracy (AKA people with money) have always had small companion dogs that they would carry around as accessories. (I'm not being snotty about this—I have two Italian Greyhounds, which are fully Greyhound bred down to small size—though they are

I actually thought that things were added and subtracted each time it played. I can't now remember what exactly…

We just changed the channel to watch Bob's burgers and there it was!!

OMG I came here to say the same thing!!!

I know, right?
