This argument operates with the assumption that Trump neither gains nor loses voters. His supporters are his supporters, and if they haven’t realized he’s a monster by now, they won’t. So every vote not cast for Clinton means that Trump is that much farther ahead with his unchanging support.

Translation: I don’t give a shit about this country so I will sit on my ass and stay home instead, but I will tell everybody I can’t vote for evil so I sound like a concerned citizen.

It seems like a lot of his supporters don’t realize he’s still a sitting Senator and that he’ll have a fuckton more influence on policy with a Democrat in the White House than with any Republican .
