It needs a V6, specifically an EcoBoost, because this GT is a marketing platform for the EcoBoost brand. It’s got nothing to do with history or aesthetics.

Just FYI, the 2005+ models have a twisty knob for the transfer case, not a lever.

Probably better ground clearance, approach and departure angles. The latest version is also available with a rear locker. Not sure about earlier versions and the Explorer.

Countryman has already made that departure.
