Actually, I really like the initial design sketch. The final product I don't care for near as much.

How is the throttle response?? Is it dead and disconnected like the 2014+ 5.3L Silverados? Does the transmission feel like it actually knows when to shift, or is it confused most of the time? Are there any vibrations, or does it drive smoothly at high speeds?
As time passes I think we're witnessing the extinction of the driving machine. With so many computers on board, it's tough to feel connected to the road in some vehicles. The other problem is that computers fail, and they fail quite regularly. It used to be that you'd take your warranted vehicle to the dealer for…
I'm not opposed to more gears per se', I'm opposed to confusing control over those gears. I don't want hunting, hesitation, and confusion when the pedal is pressed in a variety of different situations. So far, GM has gone from decent to horrible in the control of their non-Allison 6-speeds (from my 2011-2014).
Co-developed with GM? I own a 2014 Silverado, and the 6 speed is horrendous to drive with their current tuning. The new 8-speed has issues as well, and already has a few TSBs. Based on what was released as a finished product with the new Silverados, and GM co-developing the 10 speed, there's no way I'd go anywhere…
Sorry, but there's no way I'd trust any manufacturer to design a 10 speed transmission in today's fuel mileage world without it hunting, searching, pausing, and shifting way more than it needs to. I'm sick of driving these vehicles and wondering "what the heck were they thinking?" or "how could this have possibly…
I'm not a fan of the looks of the Tundra. I think the current Tacomas are some of the best looking mid-sized trucks on the road right now. I sure hope Toyota doesn't ruin the new Tacoma. They sure haven't had the best track record with some of their latest car front ends.
An '86 2wd Toyota truck was my first vehicle. I loved that truck, and would love to have another one. The only problem back then was the beds rusted along the seam. Otherwise, they were pretty bulletproof!
I appreciate the info. A co-worker in my office actually purchased a GMC right after I purchased my Silverado. His truck acts the same as mine, and he's similarly disappointed. Maybe there's a programming difference depending on build date / ECUs. If so, the recent recall updates didn't help.
Did you notice any hesitation or hiccups when the cylinder deactivation kicked in and out? For me, any hesitation is too much hesitation. I've told myself I won't be buying another GM vehicle with this system unless it's completely seamless. The same system in my 2014 Silverado makes me want to drop it back off at…
"Business promotes stealing from the other, nothing more."
I'm always surprised at how poorly programmed the throttle response is on new vehicles. I understand that fuel mileage, and torque control are the reasons, but surely a happy medium can be found. This problem isn't isolated to new cars, it's the same way with Yamaha's new FZ-09 motorcycle, as well as many other…
How's the throttle response? Are there any gimmicks like GM's active cylinder management that destroy the fun of driving the truck?
Based on the lighting in this video (unless the camera is brightening things up), I doubt that this is from the same track. The lighting looked much worse on the other video. Another thing you have to consider is perspective from the driver's seat. The driver will have a helmet on, tearoffs on the helmet, and…
Last year's race was definitely the most exciting NASCAR event that I had seen in a long time. I'm looking forward to this year's event!
I went from a 2011 6.2 liter Silverado to a 2014 5.3 recently. The new truck is absolutely horrible to drive with the active fuel management and a transmission that shifts like a turd. I'd trade back to my old truck in a heartbeat if I could. Now the new 6.2 liter trucks are being ruined with another 2 speeds. If…
