Well you know if Beyoncé doesn’t change the world in ONE day she must not be trying hard enough 😒

Her voice doesn’t negate, minimize, or delegitimize the work the rest of us are doing. Her speaking up may not do a damn thing, but staying silent? Speaks volumes.

Your dedication is surely appreciated. However, I think it is an objective truth that Beyoncé has introduced many of her fans to causes like the ones you fight for. She also en masse bailed out protestors in Ferguson. So there’s that.

If more people called Beyonce out for not actually doing anything worth while, then perhaps more people would step up.

Go google it your damn self. I’m over telling white people how to use the fucking internet. It is an emotional burden to ALWAYS be telling ya’ll what’s going on.

As Jesse Williams said “If you are going to critique our movement you better have a history of critiquing our oppression.”

I don’t care if Beyonce joined the

This person just needs to be right. Wearisome.

Thank you for expressiing this so succintly.

Ok, and what? This makes you the Patron Saint of all social justice activists? This endows you with a God-given right to declare someone’s activism as “genuine” or “fake”? Do actually care about reaching as many people as possible about this ongoing issue that is normally swept under the rug or do you want this to

So Billie Holiday, Harry Belafonte, Nina Simone, Josephine Baker, Miriam Makeba, Paul Robeson, Sammy Davis, Jr., Muhammad Ali, Jackie Robinson, Lena Horne, Sidney Poitier, Tommie Smith, John Carlos, et. al. were really on some other shit then. Nothing they did “worked,” right?

I admire your passion and activism but would still suggest that Beyonce’s fame and platform have probably allowed her to make a larger dent in these issues than your decades of efforts.

Again - I don’t care what else she does or your accusations of..uh..black people appropriating something in black culture for profit. It’s not like she’s fake black, or saying terrible things about black people behind closed doors. You’re basically trying to argue that 4+1 is better than 3+2.

So if people aren’t doing exactly what you’re doing, they might as well not be doing anything at all? Bey was born to be a performer and is following her calling and giving BLM support and a platform in an arena where they would otherwise have none. Would you rather she do nothing? Would you rather she drop everything

Dude, at least she’s speaking out. There are plenty of people staying silent. We don’t all find our voice at the same time.

Jeux de velo will never be convinced of ALL the points you made being relevant. It’s laudable that they’ve dedicated their lives to a movement, but when you make something your life you fall into a bubble and they can’t see that there are countless young people that DON’T automatically know certain things and

I mentioned non-Black celebrities because I doubt you scrutinize and criticize them as much.

When you’re a black person, you risk your life just by going outside. Sit down.

Hah it’s not just you - and it’s not just today.

Is it just me or are folks on kinja having an especially difficult time with reading comprehension today?

She means the cops.

She means that fear is not an excuse for cops and vigilantes to kill Black people.
