Man, Blind Melon was so good. It sucks that they're remembered as a one hit wonder and that Shannon Hoon died so young
Definitely. He just had the perfect, grimy voice too. There's a reason his vocals are constantly being sampled by other producers. He just *sounds* like the streets of New York in the 90's.
Witness used to be an album I would always listen to at the gym. "Skinwalkers", "Hey Baby, Here's That Song You Wanted" especially and "40 Days…" even though it's on another album. Someone on one of the forums I was on posted "Open Water" featuring Lights and that rekindled my interest.
That's not the real Avril Lavigne! It's an imposter!
Also lots of Mobb Deep. The Infamous, Hell on Earth and Murda Muzik still sound fantastic and I don't think that's high school nostalgia talking, Prodigy and Havoc made timeless hip hop classics. Also H.N.I.C. which since it's release has been one of my all time favorite rap albums but in the wake off his death I was…
Note: The Sand Snakes died on the way back to their home planet.
I haven't seen it but literally every mention of V/H/S/ I see talks about how the one segment with the kid wearing the camera glasses when he and his friends meet a mysterious girl at the bar is some of the best horror done in recent memory and literally everything else is a waste of time.
I know but they chose that name and they have to deal with the blatant hypocrisy now. It's delicious.
4. It never fails to amaze me that the dank urine soaked hell hole of bigotry and misogyny that is TheRedPill named their subreddit after something from a movie made by two transgender directors.
His earlier stuff is very good but I think his three classics are Me Against the World, All Eyez on Me and The 7 Day Theory. The dichotomy between the sensitive poet who did ballet as a teenager and studied acting and the charged up son of a Black Panther is what made Tupac such a divisive and interesting figure. Not…
I just wanted to link to the song where he deals in depth with his struggles with sickle cell anemia.
Fair enough, didn't mean to be insensitive so I apologize if I was.
"Keep it Thoro" and "Three" are both out of this world (love Cormega's verse on "Three" too).
"Rapper Ja Rule, best known for his long time stint in 50 Cent's G Unit crew and being the godfather to the daughter of his best friend Eminem…"
How are they gonna know "L.A., L.A." but not "Drop a Gem on 'Em"?! This is bothering me way too much.
Prodigy's vocals have to be the most sampled of all time, right? He had one of the absolute best hip hop voices ever.
The Infamous is one of the absolute all time hip hop classic albums. Hell, you can make an argument for "Shook One's Pt. II" being the best rap song of all time.
