First he came for the Blacks, and I did not speak out...
I think feminism, until lately, has been a really difficult thing for a lot of women to embrace, given how second-wave got such a bad rap for so many years. A few years ago I said I wasn’t a feminist because I “didn’t hate men.” Seriously. It took me a few years until I was like, wow, that wasn’t right and that the…
Mmmm hmmm. Just like how Trump says his daughter would just quit if she were being harassed (assuming she did something horrible enough to get herself into that situation in the first place). I think they all think that way.
That’s an interesting thought. Many of these women tend to look at themselves as outliers though, like they think that they’re strong and smart and can’t be affected by pesky sexism because they wouldn’t allow themselves to be victims. That only the whining women or the women who aren’t acting right are the ones who…
what the fuck even is this shit.
Why is it the cover, rather than the existence of the book itself, that “embarrassed the network?”
Yeah, she’s a piece of shit.
She's literally the most vile, and was constantly sharing garbage opinions about women and feminism. So while it's ironic that now she needs feminism, I'm trying not to take any joy from that. I'll just say that I believe her.
tfw you don’t get picked for a team but don’t want people to know that you’re deeply hurt and offended and you gotta play it cool
This made my tear up a tiny bit because the death of parents is an incredibly difficult thing. But also my cynical heart finds this super weird. I can’t imagine getting to know a stranger who got a relative’s organ. Let alone asking someone I’ve never met to walk me down the isle because they have the organ of someone…
He genuinely believes that all parents love their children equally
He’s also the first kid to fall asleep at the sleepover party.
“I’m alive, I’m well,” she said with a smile. “That means everything’s OK.””
Ugh. C’mon Jez. There was more to her quote than that. I know you have to get clicks, but don’t sell out another woman to do it. Here’s a fuller version of the interview, via USA Today (see the bold in particular):
Exactly. I can’t believe people are harping on the comment rather than her superhuman longevity in the sport. She is absolutely unique in staying at an elite level for decades when the typical lifespan is a couple of years tops.
Wow. I didn’t realize that there was a woman in her forties competing in Olympic gymnastics. Bravo for her. Also, I love that Jez only shows action shots of the female gymnasts instead of the male gaze shit that we so often see on TV. They are amazing athletes.
I know this (literally) pales in comparison, but I remember how bummed out I used to be as a kid when the dolls/characters/avatars options never had my red hair (Merida wasn’t around. Ariel is the closest I ever got!).
I feel like this is a common comment from half-assed racists. Things could be worse. All Black women are saying if you want our money then don’t forget about us.
I walked around an exhibition with my mother, it was modernist oil paintings, lots of layers and texture and there was a 13 year old boy with his mother and he whispered “I just really want to touch it, I won’t but I really want to”, I just thought “I feel ya bro”. Hands in pockets at all times.
