I agree with you to an extent. If the layout worked for me I would be relatively neutral about it (can you make it another color than white though? My eyes hurt). Except that no competent product designer seems to have thought the usability through.

Here is my opinion:

@Lodril: This LOIC DDoS-ing of websites actually takes a bunch of people. They tend not to be botnets. Many modern demonstrations do their part to disrupt the public image of a company, say smear BP ads. Downing a websites public front (like mastercard.com) does the exact same.
