Downside though, because CARB is the devil, is that range extenders cannot extend the range more than 100% and still be an EV. So 200 miles at best. Which is better but not competitive with most pure EVs.

My E39 540i was one of the best BMWs I’ve ever owned. I sold it only because I didn’t drive it enough. I have too many BMWs to keep one that always works!
