To be clear, they didn’t change anything in the game, the last patch was September 4th. Someone got some unlikely rolls (50%+ female generals) and whined about it online. Their response is entirely reasonable: we’re not going to remove content just because a vocal minority don’t want to see female generals, which…
Nobody cares.
Considering, for example, the mere existence of gay people in games has some people crying “political!”, I don’t think those people are being reasonable.
Welcome back to Toy Aisle, io9's weekly round up of the toys and merchandise that have caught our eyes lately. This…
Fuck off.
Instead flagging the “brother” detail being in dispute, how about just delete all references to it. This woman should not have to confirm or deny whether she did or did not date anyone.
My quibble with this, and the other article I’ve read about this particular criticism of the game, is that—well. Historically (fictionally), this is a world where good guy cops are in the majority, and not the minority.
It is not, in any way, the responsibility of Insomniac (or any developer) to wrap their game in real-world politics. It is a work of fiction, set in a universe where a super-scientist with the powers of a spider fights crime in a colorful costume. If they didn’t set out to make a topical game that reflects the issues…
Police are an unimpeachable group in Spider-Man. They show no real flaws and make no mistakes.
I’m not saying the entire crux of the article is wrong, but to say that cops are unimpeachable and make no mistakes is incongruous with the first mission of the game, where a group of corrupt officer attack Spider-Man.
No one really cares what cops want to do, they care about what cops actually do.

Probably because you don’t understand the rules of tennis. I’ve seen that ref do much the same thing to male players and you’d have seen it too if you actually watched tennis and didn’t just fire off the handle about things you know little about.
The highlight reel should only show the cursing done after the player has been assessed one or two violations. What’s rare, even for emotional, aggressive, half-mental men and women in tennis is for those players to continue to push the umpire when they know they’re going to lose a point or game.
Quarantine means taking peoples’ freedom away.
So, hey, everyone. I understand many of you are upset I deliberately chose not to share an opinion on this matter. That’s fair! Here’s some insight into that choice:
So, uh, maybe let’s not make a huge story of this, then?
If they had simply come out with the “We understand the feeling, but we are making a game with the intent of containing the worst kinds of people” explanation, it would still be kinda gross but more understandable.
It’s possible, but not advisable, to “hold in” these emissions. Those of us who are so uptight that we can’t even say or spell the word have learned to do this.
