I have a ‘21 mazda3 with a stick (181 HP, identical to the miata) which I bought only because it has a manual and my question is, would you rather have the manual at the lower HP? If I could have, I’d have gotten the go-faster version with a manual, obv. But now that I’ve been driving the lower HP version, it’s plenty

People love to bitch about California traffic, but that’s only a feature of the city. And if you’re trying to get driving pleasure from driving the 405, you’re really doing it wrong. Angeles Crest Highway has a lot of traffic, but that’s because it is either the first or second most famous canyon road in the country.

So that would be California. Within a 2 hour loop of my house I can whizz through winding vineyard roads, take the PCH along the rugged Sonoma coast with waves crashing, a giant Redwood grove, and a mountain pass that gets snow in winter. As a Brit that has been here for over a decade, it still astounds me.

That’s some pretty mean Joycon drift

I hate to take the obvious answer that was already noted - but I don’t see away around California. You have a little bit of everything:

The highest concentration of good driving roads is going to coincide with mountain ranges.

As a native of western NC, I can assure you the roads here suck. No need to come here. Nope. None whatsoever.

I was honestly shocked to see the median price in Chicago was under $400k.

The only surprising cities on this list are Chicago and Richmond.

Film production worker, here.

I see this on YouTube a lot and this idea that people should be monetizing their hobbies is gross. If you spent 300 hours on an Animal Crossing Island then the gain you got for that is 300 hours of joy playing a game you like, 300 hours of relaxation , 300 hours of decompression

I suspect there’s a lot of overlap with a transactional mindset in general.

Imagine the worldview necessary to believe your leisure time requires “monetization” to be of value.

>when I’m ready to move on to something else, wouldn’t it be great to monetize what I’ve built?

I hear it’s because yours may be really fresh. Older eggs peel easier (supposedly).

older eggs peel easier because the membrane shrinks

And trying to swim in a vault filled with hard boiled eggs Scrooge McDuck style is much messier than a vault of gold and jewels.

how is that less monkey business than a pan? honest question.
