I think the point of the argument here is that Luke’s behavior in TLJ is an extension of the fight in ROTJ.  If you think Luke should have behaved like a badass in TLJ (which has been an argument from many, some of them not even manbabies) then it’s because you’ve misinterpreted the fight in in ROTJ.
