I do understand what you’re saying, but I still think there’s a big and important intellectual difference between getting meaning from stories and myths and getting meaning from astrology. LOTR is presented as fiction. The qualities of the characters are universal and true to life, so people identify with the stories

Who am I to say that astrology doesn’t work? I don’t know, who are doctors to say that magic crystals don’t cure cancer? It’s the same line of reasoning.

I would say that about astrology and religion. No one has ever been able to say that anything in astrology works. I don’t really care what people believe in their own mind or read as a fun hobby, just like I don’t care where people go to worship. I do care when these hobbies or beliefs go beyond those places and

I think it’s the contrasting mindsets of the Boomers and Millennials. My parents are Boomers and used to tell me about horrible policies, “that’s just the way things are.” Whereas we Millennials are like “fuck that, get out of our way so we can make things better.”

So did the authorities actually see and speak to Shelly Miscavige or did they just get a letter from the Scientology organization saying “she’s fine”? You could literally get away with murder in that organization if the church is taught to never ask questions about other members. Since they are already cut off from

Her constituents did that already.

*millennial looks around confused because age has nothing to do with familiarity with the peter plateau*

Looking forward to Trump calling for a mass-boycott of insulin.

1) It’s not always easy to overcome internalized feelings of shame associated with sex and sexuality, particularly when you’re feeling afraid and vulnerable in a doctor’s office and/or you’ve grown up in a culture that makes a lot of value judgments about sexual activity
2) Some doctors ABSOLUTELY will shame and blame

Why are you here? You don’t like us and we don’t like you.

I’m surprised the NRA even knows Parks & Rec, I guess there are no decent Duck Dynasty memes.

You did a really good job of dramatically understating the scope and severity of the problem. Are you interested in a career in corporate pharma PR flack?

It was not some doctors or some patients. It’s literally tens of thousands of doctors and probably millions of patients. The number of people dying from opiates

direct to consumer marketing, marketing to prescribers, playing down the impact of opioids and the risk of addiction, promoting the use of other opioids by saying one in particular was less “addictive”.....this is just off of the top of my head.

Hi there! It is actually pretty fitting to go after the pharmaceutical company when you know everything they did in order to bring millions to their knees due to addiction. They claimed it wasn’t habit-forming and poured millions of dollars into campaigns that touted that very important, untrue assertion. From the top

Makes sense. when I’m depressed and crying in front of the mirror the thing I want most is to be erased from existence.

As someone who has seen (and signed) many, many NDAs, I can say that Hollywood and Trump’s offices most definitely have them at the ready at all times, and that’s not a bad thing. There is zero percent chance you or I or anyone could get a job working on a movie, at a film studio, or in the White House without signing

I agree that a lot of the coverage is pretty simplistic but I have to say that the charge of totalitarianism against the central Madrid government isnt way off - and apart from the brutality being totally awful obviously, it was also totally avoidable, Madrid has been totally totally dumb in how they’ve handled this

Sorry, Whitney, but this write-up is a terrible simplification of what’s going on. You may wish to learn more about why Spain is cracking down on the secessionists.

Apparently in this case they can.
