Why couldn’t dealerships just get a % cut of the sales price of cars that are purchased/delivered through the dealership? Don’t dealerships make most of their money on service?

Can we have a direct sales model without destroying dealerships? I think we can. Sales positions will be lost, but some can stay on and become delivery specialists, educating buyers about how the cars work.
