A problem with mandating standards is that they can hold back progress, especially for a rapidly advancing tech. For example, if someone invents a 100kwh battery that can fully charge in 5 minutes, but requires a special charging port design that can’t be compatible with the existing standard.

My mind is still blown that we continue to not address massive elephants in the pollution/green house gas emitting room. For example, big ships. I’m down with greener cars, but come on, how about we take on egregious offenders that seemingly get off scot-free? Massive container ships and cruise ships still regularly

The taillights were an early non-hybridized take on regen brakes; step on the pedal and when all sixteen lights go on the whole car slows down just from the drag on the alternator.

My local safety council that goes into the high schools to talk about safe driving doesn’t even do a drunk driving scenario anymore. They’ve replaced it with a distracted driving scenario. So instead of acting out a drunk driving crash scene with emergency response and what not, they act out a person texting and

Especially easy to make if that is all you make available.

Or their local cops recognize their car and pay more attention when they see it on the road.

I paid exactly the same relative to sticker for my ordered truck as I would have had it been sitting on the lot.

Same with the Escape. You can get a hybrid, but not with AWD. Meanwhile, Honda and Toyota offer ONLY AWD on the hybrid CR-V and Rav4. Also, the Rav4 hybrid is only like $800 more than the equivalent non-hybrid Rav4.

That, in my opinion, should be how cars are sold. If you’re impulse buying you should have to pay the price for that. It would be better for the dealers because they could keep fewer cars on smaller lots and make better margins on those cars. And it’s better for the manufacturer because they aren’t making cars they

I would really like to see more automakers go back to encouraging made-to-order sales.

heavily disagree. The american concept is about pushing frontiers and boundaries, about doing things better than before, about being exceptional. WE are losing that, and it’s things like regular old cars and gas and oil holding us back. People are clinging to them and we are just going to have to tear ourselves away

Tesla is a real car company now, and is expected to make real-world profits. It doesn’t surprise me that they are unlocking another profit center for the company: Non-Tesla charging. The charging branch of Tesla will be expected to generate profits just like the auto manufacturing branch of it. It also sets up the

I don’t think Musk “singlehandedly” did anything. Last I checked, Tesla has employees other than Musk that do a lot of work. Anyways, the article doesn’t say that Musk “is not very smart,” it said he is not as smart as he thinks he is, which, I mean:

This is where the class warfare aspect of these stories falls apart - I'll bet their version of an "awesome" party is exactly the same as Brett Kavanaugh's.

A lot of people out there went to one awesome party senior year in high school and seem to spend the rest of their lives trying to recreate it.

Have none of these people read your book?

The right answer is to give your kid whatever you’ve been driving, and get yourself something new. My 5-year-old already knows he’ll be driving a 21-year-old Tacoma one day and Dad will be driving something fast again. ;-)

He thinks he’s on the TV because he’s clever and valuable to the white establishment. Mais non, Sucker. You are the court jester whose outfits come from whitestwhiteboy.com, there to cut up on cue and dance your lil off beat Stupid Shuffle. You exist to entertain the racist dipsy-doodles. Yep, a tool, like a plunger
