Front seat headrests weren’t required in trucks until 1991. Even Chrysler minivans held them out for higher trim levels. This despite having been required in cars since 1968 or ‘69.

Counterpoint; Automatics - ALL torque-converter-and-planetary-gearset ones, almost all CVTs and even DCTs as they’re currently configured - are terribly ill-behaved. They commit the worst sin a car can - they move the car on their own with your foot off the gas pedal. The dreaded, aptly named “creep”.
