IIRC the mid ‘90s final generation Toyota Tercel (“Standard” trim level) had the last blanking-panel-where-the-right-side-mirror should’ve been. It also had the last 4 speed manual transmission, and if you were in Canada you *would* get a passenger’s side mirror but no airbags.

Stencil paint was common too, but in salt country it didn’t last because your factory-painted step bumper had to be repainted annually and having the dealer do it was just Not Done, they’d probably have laughed in your face and quoted a go-away price if you did.

The big question is whether The Daily Show will ever go back in-(expensive) studio when Trevor Noah’s doing better from an iPhone in his apartment.

So does that mean the RNC next week is Shart Week?

$88k for the winter traction of a Mustang and the carrying capacity of a Honda Fit with the handling and interior trim of an RCLB F150 work truck. One vehicle for the price of 3. CP.

What that makes me think is, can you get a Marti Report on a 2017? I thought they only went up to ‘05 or thereabouts.

Just. Build. The. Whole. Damn. Truck. LOWER.

It would still be the Vauxhall Lepo, no point tooling up separate *model* name badges just for the UK.

It was a post-factory, but Ford-authorized conversion. If it had been factory it probably would’ve used the wagon taillights and a tailgate that looked more like the wagon hatch rather than using as much as possible of the donor car.

So, the Librarian from Pratchett’s Discworld bought one?

I can never get over the rear fenders on the 92/3/5/6. Why leave an orphaned cutline that looks exactly like the rear door shutline of the 4-door version of a car that was only ever offered as a 2-door?

I’m surprised to see a Granada whether Euro or American there since Ford, as you’d expect, sold the Aussie Falcon in NZ to cover that size bracket.

Miata Is Always The Answer. Or at least it is in this case.

I like to say Lee Iacocca killed the Corvair, Nader prolonged its’ life. By the time the secondgen Corvair came out as a ‘65 model GM was already watching Mustang Mania in full swing, decided Americans really wanted their sporty “compacts” with conventional engineering and a V8 option, decided not to put a penny more

Exactly, it’ll get people taking buses and hailing taxis again.

Counterpoint; the 5-door Golf was THE pure form of the Mk4 VW. The Jetta had only pale echoes of details like the Golf’s swooping haunches formed by the parallel cutlines between the rear doors and the bumper/hatch/taillights.

Uber and Lyft would be on rock-solid ground if they flipped the script and defined themselves as suppliers to their drivers. There should be some ground rules set by the state in order to accomplish that definition;

And why are cops allowed to wear sunglasses on the clock AT ALL? It’s a major no-no in pretty much every other public-facing job.

The other issue is that if Ford had stuck to their original plan the Pinto would’ve been replaced on US production lines by the FWD MkI Fiesta by the time the explosive-gas-tank scandal broke. They intended on it having a 5-year production lifespan and ran it for ten, by the end of which they were practically giving

What Stellantis needs to do to prune the lineup is simple;
